Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was established 45 years ago due to one family's deep love for Kenya and its wilderness. This pioneering conservation organization is dedicated to safeguarding wildlife and preserving habitats in East Africa. Its most renowned initiative is the Orphans' Project, the world's first and most successful elephant orphan rescue and rehabilitation program.

The trust protects the natural environment and immediately assists wild animals in need through its Aerial, Anti-Poaching, and Mobile Veterinary Units. The Orphans' Project allows them to rescue and care for orphaned baby elephants, rhinos, and other wild species across Kenya, ensuring they can thrive and return to the wild when they grow up.

Engaging with local communities living alongside wildlife is essential to the trust's work, achieved through Community Outreach programs. Additionally, their Saving Habitat initiative is focused on securing crucial wilderness areas to provide animals with ample space to roam freely.

Among the various ways to support the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, my favorite is to adopt one of their many rescued animals. Meet Raha and Mayan, two of my fosters, in the image to the right. Please click the link below to learn more about adoption and how you can get involved.
